'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and his teammate immediately hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result capped an incredible comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for his team and nation, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
